There For You
Aubrey, A. (2007). There for you. Laguna Hills, CA: QEB Publishing.
Johnathon Harrison Spencer has just found out that his mom and dad have decided to separate and that hid dad will be living somewhere else. The story takes Johnathon through the typical emotions of a young child whose parents are splitting up. He wonders what his mom and he will do without Dad living with them. Next he begins to think back, trying to figure out what he had done to make his dad "want a new home...." The author describes the boy's emotions of confusion, anger, and saddness. "His tummy was knotted and achy and his heart was empty and sad." His parents take him to the park and as they all play together, they offer reassuring words that nothing is his fault, they love him and will always be there for him. The book offers notes for parents and teachers to guide them in discussions with children. This story is told through rhyme and is part of the QEB's Understanding series of books that help kids deal with upsetting family situations.
